The condition of the villages after the Tsunami - Campbell Bay - Great Nicobarer together

After the Tsunami, water level rises almost everyday in many villages in Campbell Bay.

The cause of the tsunami on December 26, 2004
*      It is said that on an average the Indo- Australian plate moves below the Eurasian plate at around 70mm per year. Often, however the plate gets locked and moves very little for many years and pressure builds up.
*      When the accumulated pressure is suddenly released, a major earthquake results. This is what happened on December 26, 2004 near Sumatra, which resulted in the massive tsunami waves hitting the shorelines and islands in south Asia.
